Write an article for Kindred Spirit magazine
You may have noticed that Kindred Spirit magazine publishes articles penned by many different writers. Because of the diversity of the subject matter contained in each and every issue of Kindred Spirit it would be impossible for a team of in-house writers to produce articles of the quality and depth that we insist upon. Many of our contributors have a degree of expertise in their chosen subject matter that has taken years to develop, so it makes perfect sense for Kindred Spirit to make use of their knowledge, even if their writing skills need a little honing. We are always on the lookout for new interesting work from freelance writers, so if you have an idea for an article then do let us know.
How to send us your magazine article proposal
- FIRSTLY PLEASE READ OUR Guidelines For Writers
- It is easier for us to assess an article that is already written rather than discussing outline proposals, so please send your finished work if possible. However, we will consider outline proposals if circumstances do not allow a finished article to presented straight way.
- Please send your article by email if possible as this is the easiest means of communication. Email: kate.osborne@metropolis.co.uk
Guidelines For Writers
Kindred Spirit magazine gathers together information and features on all aspects of the MBS (mind body spirit) field. We aim to offer our readers cutting edge articles which are at once in-depth and accessible. Our articles are never excessively intellectual, but neither are they oversimplified.
Material:
The kind of material we are looking for is well-researched articles on any topic which comes within our scope. While the scope of Kindred Spirit is as broad as the world around us is multi-faceted, our position depends on remaining on the leading edge of change.
Style:
Our main criterion is that the writing should be in-depth, with a strong grasp of the material, and that this depth should be communicated in a way that general readers will find accessible. Our reader profile covers the whole spectrum of age and interest, so it’s important to be able to speak to everyone. Since we deal primarily in the experience and wisdom of our fellows, it’s important to bring in case histories and personal testament wherever possible.
Length: Typically we give our major features between 2000 and 4000 words. As a general guide though, about 2000 is a good length, as it gives us some leeway in editing and typesetting.
Pictures: Yes. The highest quality possible. Visuality is of the utmost importance in magazine publishing, so we need photos to be either available or ideas for images to be forthcoming.
Payment: Fees for articles that appear in the magazine are by negotiation. There are no additional fees for articles that are subsequently reproduced on the website, or for articles that appear exclusively on the website.
Exclusivity: Kindred Spirit is only interested in articles to which we can have exclusive rights to publish. It remains the author's responsibility to inform Kindred Spirit of any prior usage of the submitted article.
Copywrights: Kindred Spirit retain copyright on all material we publish within the magazine and on the website, unless negotiated otherwise.
