Emotional Investment
To some, faith may mean that we will simply wake up in the morning after a night’s sleep, to others something deeper. Having faith in life is a scary thought, we are asked to blindly trust in the Universe, God, life whatever it means to you. How do we go about such a challenge? Many years ago when I first entered into this spiritual practice I was on one occasion told ‘You are stood on the edge of a cliff, now all you have to do is fall off’ What! You mean let go of my safety net and trust! Not sure how I was going to do this I asked the inevitable question - how?
The answer explained to me would be through acceptance of the now and meditation, having then been instructed to meditate twice a day I started this willingly and without question. I had no idea when or even if this Eureka moment was going to happen, what I did know was that having tried many years before to fall of the edge, whenever I got to the edge of the cliff something happened. Fear. Every time I got to that point I feared something terrible was going to happen I was afraid to let go and fall of the edge. But I persevered and with inner discipline and patience I never thought possible, practiced daily. Let me tell you there was no flash of lightening, no Eureka moment but what did happen, over time, was this feeling of inner peace. I found myself trusting more and more and any doubts that I had slowly diminished to be replaced by absolute faith and I mean faith in life, in the universe and mankind. Somewhere deep inside I was connecting to a source that could only be explained as wholeness. I found this to be a very humbling experience and it invoked in me further changes enabling me to fall right off the edge.
